Status Overview
*MRI 4/09 - no change. Continuing chemo. *MRI 1/09 - no change. Protocol will stay the same. :) *MRI 11/08 - area seen indicating new tumor growth, not enhancing, possibly slow-growing, sent home from Dr. N-O with first week of Temador *MRI 6/08 - first visit with new neuro-oncologist in Dallas, nothing to report *MRI 3/12/08 - no new growth! No hygroma or arterial issues. *3/6/08 - cut loose from organized out-patient rehabilitation therapy, which included physical, speech, occupational and neuro-psychological therapy *2/19/08 - something strange seen on CT concerning main brain artery, but hygroma looks the same or better *12/17/07 - positive rehabilitation evaluation- progressing in therapy as opposed to regressing a few weeks ago. Developed hygroma in tumor cavity, waiting to hear how to proceed, causing tiredness, confusion * MRI 11/29/07 - No new growth! * Still in out-patient rehabilitation, including speech therapy and physical therapy * Down to Keppra only for seizures
I am the daughter of 2 cancer survivors - 1 who's still waging the war and winning. I miss my friends and family in Oregon, but have come to love my new home state of Texas. I have also learned that I am not the only liberal, tree-hugger in North Texas...whew!
* Diagnosed with brain tumor 1987 after seizure, watch and wait * 1st surgery 1988, confirmed oligodendroglioma stage 2.5, followed by radation therapy * seizures started December 2004, MRI showed enhancement, 2nd surgery January 2005, pathology found scar tissue, no recurrence of tumor * seizures started August 2007, MRI showed enhancement, slipped into seizure coma, emergency 3rd surgery, pathology confirmed recurrence of oligodendroglioma stage 2.5 * rehabilitation ongoing * MRI November 2007 shows no new growth! *As of November 2008, treating possible regrowth with ongoing Temador (oral chemo)
